Hi David,

I only came across your stuff the other day and I have to say I have been utterly blown away by it! Such skill at every level that it really has lit a fire under me and left me feeling incredibly inspired!
I notice you mentioned you looked at Victorian Pubs for inspiration but are there any books that reference this style of art that you could recommend specifically over others? It’s something I would very much like to look in to in more depth.
Also, are you on Twitter? As I looked for you there but of course the name David Smith had a billion different possibilities and if you are on there, I would very much like to follow you.

Hi Nathan .I also did alot of walking about London looking for the old Victorian pub gems and architecture from that era.

working in london today, as usual i got up there early to beat the masses on the train. With an hour and a half to go about two miles i took a roundabout walking route, passing the houses of parliament. i was just standing there looking at the craftsmanship involved thinking how incredible it was and how we’ll never see that amount of man hours put into a building again. it was therefore heart warming and refreshing to come across your site tonight, and to find someone with such passion and skill, and able to make a living (i presume)from their craft.

David, I am not easily impressed. Your talent, however, blows me away. Your website is magical to look at, and your lettering is superb. (I began my lettering “career” at 4 years old when Daddy pointed out numbers in a book. Since then professional lettering, logos, typography, book design and a stint in the sign business.) I really appreciate when you take a project to the ultimate level of “spectacular” and then keep trying to make it even more impressive! And what another treat – your movie is a real class act. Extremely well produced, photographed, edited, and sound engineered. Your passion for what you do seems exceeded only by your talent – or is it the other way around? Thank you for slowing down my day to appreciate true craftsmanship. Now back to this rather mundane Photoshop project…
